Profile

Dr M. Sana Ullah Sahar is an accomplished academic and researcher currently serving as Assistant Professor of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Sargodha, Pakistan. With over a decade of diverse experience across research, teaching, and academic leadership, Dr Sahar’s career is distinguished by a multidisciplinary focus spanning biomedical engineering, additive manufacturing, materials science, and engineering design.

Dr Sahar earned his PhD in Mechanical Engineering from Griffith University, Australia, under prestigious international scholarships and research grants. He holds an MS in Mechanical Engineering from Yeungnam University, South Korea, and a BSc in Mechanical Engineering from Bahauddin Zakariya University, Pakistan. His doctoral work introduced pioneering strategies for nerve regeneration using negative pressure and mechanical stimulation, contributing novel insights to the field of medical device development.

He is a recipient of multiple competitive international awards, including the Australian Postgraduate Research Scholarship, International Postgraduate Scholarship, and funding from the Australian Orthopaedic Association and Queensland Hand Surgery Society. In Pakistan, his research has been funded by IGNITE and KFUEIT, focusing on the development of portable ventilators and health monitoring systems to strengthen national healthcare infrastructure.

Dr Sahar has published over 30+ journal articles in high-impact factor journals (total impact factor >83), in addition to several book chapters and numerous conference proceedings. His research interests include biomaterials, implant design, stress-tolerant perovskite oxides, cryogenic machining, and digital manufacturing, with a strong foundation in DFT-based computational materials science.

A notable distinction in his profile is his rare combination of theoretical simulation expertise and hands-on experimental development, allowing him to bridge gaps between computational analysis and real-world biomedical and mechanical innovations. He is also a certified CPD trainer, having conducted seminars on STEAM pedagogies, design of experiments, and research methodology, reflecting a commitment to faculty and curriculum development.

In addition to his academic contributions, Dr Sahar has held key administrative roles such as Postgraduate Coordinator, Program Head, and Additional Director, contributing to curriculum design, program accreditation, and quality assurance in engineering education. He is currently a member of the National Curriculum Development Committee, working toward the alignment of engineering education with global standards and national priorities.

Dr Sahar exemplifies the integration of global academic training, cutting-edge research, and national service, making him a leading contributor to the advancement of engineering education and applied research in Pakistan.
